Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the letter from the
Colonial Office dated the 13th of March, regarding amendments
to the typed leaflet giving nurses particulars of Hong Kong.
I suggest that the amendment to Clause 6 belongs more
properly to Clause 10 as the first nine clauses are concerned
with the nurse's first appointment on three years agreement and
Clause 10 covers the future prospects of the Sister in Hong
Kong. The leaflet would therefore be unaltered except for
Clause 10 which would read as follows:
"There are a limited number of appointments as Ward Sisters. Nursing Sisters who have shown marked ability, have good health, and are in all ways suitable, will be considered for these appointments if there is a vacancy at the completion of their three years' agreement. Nursing Sisters who are retained after three years' service on agreement are eligible for admission to the permanent and pensionable establishment.
